History
In operation since 1972, the Anchorage Chemical Terminal is located across the Mississippi River from the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant.

ACT today
The facility provides storage and distribution of petrochemical products for ExxonMobil’s Chemical Plant via all modes of transportation.

Facility

  • A dolphin-type dock, designed to load ships up to 48,000 tons
  • Tank car loading rack with 15 loading/unloading spots
  • Flare System to control emissions during loading, purging and maintenance activities
  • Truck loading/unloading rack (single bay)

Products handled

  • Propylene
  • Refined and crude butadiene

Storage capabilities

  • Two 50,000-bbl butadiene tanks
  • One 40,000-bbl butadiene sphere
  • Six 30,000-gallon propylene bullets

Achievements and awards

  • ISO 9002 Certification for butadiene
