understanding which Uses are supported
Please follow the Steps 1-4 to determine whether your Use will be included as a Supported Use in our REACH registration and in the new extended Safety Data Sheet when it becomes available.
Step 1: Refer to the "Generic Use mapping table for Paraffin Waxes” or “Generic Use mapping table for Slack Waxes” or “Generic Use mapping table for Foots Oils" and locate the columns on the right hand side of the page headed “Products Covered” to find the ExxonMobil product you purchase.
Step 2: The supported Uses (titles and a short description) are located on the left hand side of the table under the heading GES title and scope. The scope of each title is then further described in subsequent columns using the applicable REACH Use Descriptors: Sector of Use (SU), Process Category (PROC), Product Category (PC) and Environmental Release Category (ERC).
Step 3: A tick mark under the ‘products covered’ column will indicate that ExxonMobil is planning to include this use in the registration dossier. If you find that your product / Use combination is covered by the provided REACH Use Descriptors, there is no need to take any further action with ExxonMobil with respect to Use Communication for that particular product / product family.
Step 4: It is anticipated that the vast majority of applications will be adequately described by Steps 1-3. However, in the unlikely case that your application is not covered, then it is recommended that you e-mail the ExxonMobil Lubes and Specialties REACH team at REACH-L&S@ExxonMobil.com as soon as possible. They will be able to assist you by collecting the relevant information that ExxonMobil may require to consider your Use.
There is only a limited time window for you to provide this information. We would therefore encourage you to address this matter promptly as there is no obligation for us to consider Use communication received after Nov 30th 2009 for substances with a REACH registration deadline in 2010. If you feel uncomfortable with sharing Use information not already listed, you can conduct your own Chemical Safety Assessment which must be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency.
