Our operations

• Spills from ExxonMobil-operated marine vessels have decreased more than 70 percent since 1996 and more than 40 percent between 2001 and 2002.
• Refinery air emissions have been cut nearly 10 percent the past five years and nearly 2 percent between 2001 and 2002.
• Greenhouse gas emissions are essentially flat these past three years, despite volume increase.
• Added 170 megawatts of energy-saving cogeneration capacity in 2002 making a total worldwide capacity of nearly 3,000 megawatts.

• Leading European supplier of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), an environmentally friendly alternative to diesel for heavy goods vehicle operators.
• Leading developer of synthetic lubricants - Mobil 1 and Esso Ultron - that can help reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS)

Our environmental performance is guided by the Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS). OIMS applies to every facility, everywhere in the world and is fully ISO 14001 compliant.

When verifying this compliance in 2001, the independent assessors Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance also noted: 'We believe ExxonMobil to be among the industry leaders in the extent to which environmental management considerations have been integrated into its ongoing business processes.'
