ExxonMobil's commitment to safety is that “Nobody Gets Hurt” and we want to achieve an incident free workplace with zero personal injuries, zero spills and zero damage. We are not there yet, but we are making good progress.
Today, we are already industry leader in safety in most areas and continue to improve. For example, we have achieved a 70 percent reduction in the number of marine spills since 1996 and a 15 percent reduction of non-marine-vessel spills since 2000.
Our European road safety performance is also improving. In 2002, we had only one reported accident for every 2.2 million kilometers driven and no fatalities.
